We
woke to blue skies and a glorious day breaking the frost on the ground
before leaving Bungendore to meet at the rally point at the Nicholls
Caltex petrol station. A number of bikes and their riders gathered at
Nicholls to greet each other and discuss the day’s travel plans to
Barney’s at Bookham for lunch.

We
decided to travel the well trodden route heading down the Barton Hwy
through Murrumbateman. A few kilometres down the road we ran into a fog
bank and the cold returned and our vision was reduced.
Not
long after turning left along the Hume Hwy the sun finally showed its
face again. We travelled along the Burley Griffin Way turning off at
Illalong Rd. This narrow winding back road with a poor surface made the
riders feel unsettled before they crossed over the Hume Hwy and headed
towards Barneys café at Bookham for a well deserved meal and great
company. Tasty food, coffee and service at Barneys - to be recommended.
After lunch we all rode back to Murrumbateman where we stopped to say a final good bye before heading our bikes for home.
Another successful Canberra Ulysses Club ride enjoyed by a number of riders, their pillions and sidecar passenger Kipper.
