I decided that we would go via Tarago and all were in agreement as it was only about an hour’s ride if we rode directly to Braidwood.
Sandy Fisk volunteered to be Tail End Charlie and we set off, with Jenny Carlin riding with us only to Bungendore then headed home due to prior commitments. We picked up Allan Grimes and Emma Campbell at Bungendore and proceeded on to Tarago. A short stop at Tarago and we then travelled on to Braidwood for a coffee stop. Mike Kelly caught up as he could not get to the start by 9.15.
We left Braidwood at 11.45 to travel the short distance to Major’s Creek Hotel, still in sunny weather.
Food was ordered and we could take it across the road to the park benches, which seemed great as the weather was warming up, but by the time the meals arrived, the sun was gone and we decided to eat inside.
After a good feed we all wandered off home. Chas, Garry and myself decided to call in and visit Michael Winters at Bungendore, as he was to have led the ride until his knee operation (I think he was scared of bad weather, after all – he had been out of hospital for 2 weeks). Unfortunately, the weather turned bad (snowing on the hills on the LHS of Braidwood road), so we decided to head straight home instead, to miss the rain that was coming towards Bungendore.
Overall a good short ride with good meals at the hotel.
