Ride Report: Chomp & Chat - Araluen, Sunday 14 April 2019

Great day for a leisurely sixty minute ride to Araluen Pub for lunch by a dozen or so riders. The ride started with a ride briefing advising all that as it was school holidays, should anyone wish to donate to the NSW Government coffers, then by all means, ride above the speed limit. The Kings Highway at this time of year is a happy hunting ground for the boys in blue. We saw two marked cars on the way to Araluen and another two on the ride back – and that was only the ones we saw – who knows how many hidden ones we blissfully rode past.

Briefing over we all rode sedately to Araluen. The ride down into the valley is twisty, passing beautiful stands of gums. The valley itself is very pretty surrounded by steep hills.

Lunch was plentiful and the company talkative. The publican is very welcoming and friendly. As is the lovely cockatoo, who, as soon as we were off our bikes, started squawking “Hello”. We even saw a lyrebird scurrying into the bush as we rode back up the hill away from Araluen.

A wonderful way to pass some hours on a lazy Sunday.
