Ride Report – Binalong Hotel (?), 3 June 2018

Well this was the ride that almost wasn’t. Mick was asked to fill in as ride leader late in the week. He called the hotel at Binalong and spoke to a lady who reserved a table for Sunday’s luncheon gathering. After experiencing a day of wind and rain on Saturday we woke to a clearer skies and warmer temperatures.
We were pleased to find a group of riders waiting with more arriving.  Before we gathered for our briefing Mick quickly called the hotel to let them know exactly how many people where coming for lunch. To his horror he was told the owner’s mother had made a mistake and the hotel was closed on Sundays. So with a quick discussion we contacted the Terracotta Café who kindly reserved a table for lunch to the relief of the ride leader.

We had a mixed group of 13 riders so Mick asked Ron to be the Tail End Charlie and Garry kindly looked after the corner marking to keep the group on the straight and narrow. The road was in good condition making the ride a wonderful run to Harden.  The usual good food, interesting company with an enjoyable ride was a great way to spend a Sunday.

Returning home Ron took five others on a one hour (exactly) ride from Yass to Denman Prospect at a nice leisurely pace. The newly sealed bits on Fairlight Road are in good nick – other bits remain a bit bumpy. A beautiful piece of country road. *

Thanks to Garry for acting as corner marker and Ron as Tail End Charlie.
